Noel Ellul

Noel EllulNoel started his maritime career working with Malta’s leading P&I Correspondent, H. Vassallo Limited, who had local representation from most, if not all, of the international P&I Clubs.

There he gained firsthand experience on Ship Owners and Charterers’ liability claims together with Maritime Litigation both in the local and foreign Courts by directly corresponding with the respective P&I Clubs.

Following a request by the then Guardian Royal Exchange’s local agency, Formosa & Camilleri Limited, to head their Marine Underwriting and Claims department, he embarked in this new role which provided a wealth of expertise as a Marine Underwriter and Claims Manager.

Formosa & Camilleri also had local representation for the International Underwriting Association (the then Institute of London Underwriters), CESAM, COSCO, CEA and other international marine insurance bodies.

This representation also fell under Noel’s management and his hard work and determination to become a specialist in the Maritime sector, earned him a nomination to attend the post graduate course on specialised Marine studies organised by the International Maritime Law Institute in Malta.

To expand further his knowledge of the local and international marine insurance market, Noel ventured into the Insurance Broking sector with United Insurance Brokers as a Commercial Lines Broker and Claims Senior Manager where he was mainly responsible for the general and liability marine underwriting portfolio and their respective claims.

He also had various appointments as an independent local court expert on a number of cases dealing with maritime litigation.
